Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
An uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common infection of the bladder in women who are otherwise healthy. It is usually caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract and spreading to the bladder.
Common symptoms include:
- A sudden, strong need to urinate
- Passing urine more frequently than normal
- A burning or painful feeling when urinating
- Urine that appears cloudy
- Strong-smelling urine
- Tenderness or discomfort in the lower abdomen
- Blood in the urine
Although uncomfortable, uncomplicated UTI's are generally easy to treat and typically respond well to antibiotics.
If you feel you are suffering from symptoms related to a UTI our pharmacist team can assess and treat you with prescription-only medication (antibiotics) (where applicable) at Green Cross Pharmacy under the Common Conditions Service.
