Common Conditions Service

Common Conditions Service launching soon at Green Cross Pharmacy
The new Common Conditions Service enables pharmacists to assess, manage and treat eight common conditions with prescription-only medicines, where appropriate, in line with HSE protocols. This service aims to give our customers faster and easier access to professional healthcare.
While pharmacists already provide expert advice and over-the-counter solutions this will be the first time they can prescribe prescription-only medication for these conditions.
“As a community pharmacy, we are proud to support a service that brings healthcare closer to the people who need it,” said Caoimhe Cannon, Superintendent Pharmacist at Green Cross Pharmacy.
“This initiative allows our pharmacists to provide timely care for common conditions right here in the locality, making it easier for patients to access treatment while helping to relieve pressure on local GP services. It’s a positive step forward for patients and for the community healthcare as a whole.”

During your visit the pharmacist will carry out a private consultation, assess your symptoms in line with HSE clinical protocols and where appropriate, prescribe and supply the recommended prescription-only medicines - without the need for a GP visit.
If your symptoms don’t meet the criteria the pharmacist may need to refer you to another healthcare professional.

After the consultation if the pharmacist establishes that treatment is required for your condition they will prescribe the correct medication.
- Pharmacist consultation fee: €35
- Medication: Additional charge applies
While the consultation itself is not covered by government schemes, any prescribed and dispensed medicines may be eligible for reimbursement under existing schemes.
